WHO

I am a freelance proofreader, based in Liverpool, UK, and trained in proofreading by the Publishing Training Centre, London

Having trained and practised as a solicitor at both high street and commercial law firms, I am focused on client care, the requirement for plain English and a respect for timescales and deadlines. I now edit and proofread a variety of law and non-law texts.

I usually work on screen, using Microsoft Word (Tracked Changes) and PDF (PDF Xchange or Adobe Acrobat), as well as on bespoke client software if required and by agreement.

I am committed to continuing professional development and have completed courses with the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (formerly Society for Editors and Proofreaders), of which I am an Advanced Professional Member, having acquired the requisite amount of training and experience and a number of references from publisher clients.

Location

I grew up in the northwest of England and now live there once again, with my husband and two children, after having spent seventeen years in Leeds and Bradford, Yorkshire.
